Looking back at 2011

mood: excited
now playin': Feelin' Good - Michael Buble
It's the last day of the year once again. Last year, in my blog post on the last day of 2010 (Read here), I said 2010 was the bestest year I've had in the longest time. Well 2010, news flash.. 2011 kicked your ass! :)

I know I've been saying this over and over again but only God knows how much this year means to me! All that I've wanted really badly (and that I believe God agrees it would be right for me), I got it, right from the beginning of the year!

1) Emceed for RP's Open House '11

Back in Dec '10, I wanted to be part of the RP open house '11 but cos I was sick, I missed the interview then when I got back to school........GUESS WHO WAS ASKED TO BE THE EMCEE FOR RP'S OPEN HOUSE '11?! ^^ Although I only only emceed the first day, I got to be a part of it. And well, it was the last time I emceed in school before going on to my final year in poly starting on my internship! (I totally dropped off radar when I went for IIP. :/)

Which brings me to my next point...

2) Internship!

I'm a really picky person and thus, when we were given a list of companies to rate them 1 being most interested & 5 being completely uninterested to join, I only had 2 companies that I placed as No.1 & the rest were all 5. HAHAHAHA. The 2 I chose were - Assumption English School & Z Fencing Pte. Ltd. I wanted AES cos...well, it kinda sortda sounded cool (doesn't make much sense, i know) & I wanted ZFencing cos well, it was a fencing club (I was really into fencing cos of the YOG cutiepie back in 2010), I had done an assignment previously on Fencing, it was kinda nearby my place & I felt, I could actually gain something through the internship!

So my first interview was with Z Fencing & it went brilliantly. My 2nd was with AES, where it went well too. And then......everyone else I know had like 6 interviews with 6 different companies..but I had just these 2. I started panicking & then a senior told me that this means one of my interviews was a success. True enough, a few days later, I received an email that my interview with Z Fencing was a success!

Aced my first interview & when I look back, Z Fencing was a great choice cos of the location, workload & all. i mean, sure, it can be stressful at times, but I liked the environment & all. I got to be part of 3 different departments, do different things, learn more, gain more experience, good colleagues & met new friends! I even got to learn FENCING! :D

Before I started, I was really worried. I tend to get bored with a job really quick & when I get bored, I'd stop working hard. But I surprised myself, I worked hard, asked for more work than I was given (where can you find someone as hardworking as me?!) & picked up new skills.

After completing my internship, I went abroad (blog more about that inabit) and when I was in Aussie, I received A LOT of tweets about me being mentioned during a post-internship talk and being highly commended and complimented on my work ethnics and also being offered a job with the company after I graduate! :O I was absolutely beaming at the news! All my hardwork paid off! :D

But alas, having a pass with commendations (which is like the highest grade for IIP) isnt much cos IIP isn't counted in our GPA. :( What a pity init?

3) First solo & virgin trip to Aussie!

Here's the whole story:

My friend, Fariza, went to Adelaide, Australia to study & ever since she left, me & the usuals have been wanting to go over to visit her. But we just never did cos of many reasons..one of them being I just couldn't get out of the country with friends esp THAT far. So this year, I wanted to go over SO BADLY because after the whole internship, I just felt like I needed a getaway and since Ive never been to Oz, Frizzy's there & for her last year, why not right? My only problem was getting my family to allow me to go on my own & to...gimmie $. HAHAHAHA.

It wasn't easy, it took a long time and effort to assure them I'll be fine. And thankfully, I got my wish! Yall have NO IDEA how hard it was & surprise I was when I was given the go-ahead! :D Wish came true I tell ya!

And when I was in Adelaide, the plan was that we'd go a weekend to Melbourne but cos she had school, we cancelled off the plan but still, I really really wanted to go to Melbourne & God was brilliant! He gave me a way to visit Melbourne! Befriended Frizzy's roommate & a bunch of malay singaporeans who were gonna visit Melb too & I went with them!!!!!!!! :D

Anyways, I know I haven't blogged much about the trip. I've been swamped with shit loads to crap to get done (eg.FYP). But for now, here's the beginning of my Aussie trip post: Here

4) Brilliant 19th birthday!

Last year's birthday was great! But this year's was BRILLIANT! :) Spent it with my family & Diana! :D Love them all to bits! Read my birthday post HERE!

5) My dream course in the University of my dream!

If yall are on my FB, following me on Twitter or read my posts below, you'd know the story to this. If you have been living under a rock......HERE's my post!

6) Everything else

I know I haven't been able to spend that much time with ALL my friends but I've made sure I made as much time as I could, even if it meant phone calls or webcamming while I do my work. Thank you to all those who've been there for me even when shit happened (yes, it may have been a good year but even fairytales have got obstacles to overcome) and also there when I was happy and all was going well, you guys mean A LOT to me cos I know, I can count on you! :)

Most of the decisions I've made this year, I've not regretted them which is a good thing. A step looking forward and making the right decisions for myself. Things have been going (most of the time) the way I want them too. I just pray I can keep this up, have proper time management and enough strength to overcome all obstacles, succeed in both Poly & Uni & everything else in life.

So many photos to be uploaded. But I need to leave yall with this...................

HEHEHHEEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEHE. :P

HAVE A BLESSED & HAPPY NEW YEAR YALL! x
